Project: “Regulating Toxic Plastics: Country Situation Reports on Phthalates, Bisphenols, and the Gaps in Protection”

The aim of the project is to provide, through the development of a comprehensive report and a public campaign, an overview of the situation, regulations, and challenges related to the presence and use of phthalates and bisphenols in the country, in order to encourage measures to reduce their use and improve existing regulations. To achieve this goal, ALHem will carry out the following activities during the project implementation period:

  • Collection and analysis of available data on the production, import, and export of plastics, phthalates, and bisphenols in the Republic of Serbia from various sources
  • Analysis of existing legislation and assessment of the level of harmonization with EU regulations (gap analysis)
  • Review of publicly available reports, campaigns, and scientific publications related to these chemicals in Serbia, implementation of an awareness campaign, and dialogue with relevant institutions and business entities to raise public awareness and conduct advocacy with competent authorities to improve the existing regulations.

Project implementation period: July 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026

Donor: The project is implemented with the financial support of IPEN (International Pollutants Elimination Network)
